Substance Abuse Education Groups

At The UP Foundation, we believe that our participants’ should learn the truth about substance use. For this reason, we periodically host Substance Use Education courses. These courses are administered by counselors and Certified Peer Recovery Specialists in a small group format, allowing participants to ask questions and receive prompt answers. They teach participants about a variety of substances, including but not limited to, the following:

  • Alcohol

  • Amphetamines

  • Barbiturates

  • Caffeine

  • Cocaine

  • Hallucinogens

  • Inhalants

  • Marijuana

  • Nicotine

  • PCP

  • Opioids

Each Substance Use Education course focuses on a specific substance. Our staff review the ways in which a specific drug alters brain chemistry to alter mind and mood, and convey the consequences – short and long term – of the drug.
